- Full ECM reprogramming / reflashing is not currently supported.

No — the core diagnostic functions work offline. However, an internet connection is required for: Troubleshooting by Symptoms, Troubleshooting by Fault Code, Vehicle Technical Data, and Technical Releases. Your phone's mobile hotspot works just fine.
The Jaltest-based software (Master Kit and Gas Pro Kit) is Windows-only (Windows 10 or 11). The MDT Mini Kit runs on Android and does not require a PC.

Our team begins building and configuring your kit for shipment. You will receive a contract for the 3-year program via email, which must be signed before we ship. We will also set up your payment method and put a card on file for recurring payments.
No. There is absolutely no early payoff penalty.
Yes. Contact us for upfront pricing. Note that upfront purchases include only one year of support, updates, training, and repair information. You will also be subject to standard annual renewal price increases rather than the locked-in rate available through the 3-year plan.
We understand life happens — we are flexible. If you communicate with us, we are happy to move missed payments to the end of your term, re-cast the loan, or make other arrangements. If payments are missed without communication, a late fee will be applied, and after 3 missed payments with no contact we may deactivate the tool remotely and pursue collection.
Yes — MDT offers a 30-day money-back guarantee. To qualify for a return, you must complete both the online training class and the 1-on-1 training session.
Keyboards are available as an add-on for $110 but are NOT covered under any hardware warranty.
Software, Licenses & Renewals
There is no required fee — your software will continue to function. However, after your 3-year plan ends (or after 12 months for standalone purchases), you will no longer receive software updates, technical support, or access to repair information without purchasing a renewal.

Yes — you can install the software on up to 3 computers. However, only one computer can be actively connected with the shared hardware at a time. Call us to walk through installing on an additional machine (your license must be current).
We always recommend keeping your software updated. However, if your license has expired and you click the update button, the software may lock up. Additionally, if you are not on the latest version before expiration, the software typically functions for about 6 months or until the next major update is released. Avoid manually changing your PC's date/time settings, as this can also cause the software to lock.
Each Mini Kit comes with a 2-year software license. After 2 years, a renewal is $90/year. The software continues to function after expiration, but you will lose tech support, new updates, and bug fixes.
Cables & Compatibility
Kits include the most commonly used cables for the covered engines, plus a pin-out (build-your-own) cable that can be configured for virtually any connection. However, there are over 80 different marine cables in the industry — additional cables are available for purchase if you regularly service less common engines.
Think of the pin-out cable as a "build-a-cable" kit. The software tells you exactly which pins to place to connect to a specific engine's diagnostic port. It works for most situations but requires a bit of assembly. Engine-specific molded cables are more durable and allow faster connections — ideal for high-volume shops.

The standard kits cover gas engines. To diagnose John Deere Marine diesel engines, you would need to upgrade to the diesel/plus edition (approximately $750 additional) and also purchase the John Deere-specific cable.

Warranty & Hardware Support
The 3-year plan includes a full hardware warranty covering the diagnostic device (Jaltest V9), tablet, and cables.
It excludes physical damage, water intrusion, unauthorized third-party repairs, normal wear and tear, and keyboards/accessories.
No. Standard software renewals ($635 or $1,000/year) do not include hardware warranty. To reinstate warranty coverage, you would need to upgrade to a new 36-month kit plan. We will proactively reach out with upgrade options as your plan approaches renewal.
Yes — the Mini Kit includes 1 year of hardware warranty from the date of purchase. An extended warranty option (2 additional hardware years + 1 additional software year, for 3 years total) is available for $300 upfront or $9.99/month over 36 months.
